This little baby boy, who they affectionately called "Buttons" needed our prayers. He was born at 27 weeks gestation and suffered complications due to his premature birth. Initially, things looked pretty grim for this little guy and so His Hands asked if we would pray on his behalf.
Yesterday morning, we got the most wonderful news!!! He is going to be our little boy!!!!!! We still have a stressful and emotional process to get through, but we will be counting the days until we get to bring him home:)
Because I am sure you are curious, the bump on his eye is a hemangioma which will eventually go away on its own. It's not harmful; it just makes him look tough ;)
And, the bump on his head is a shunt. One of the complications of his prematurity was a brain bleed which led to hydrocephalus, so the shunt allows the fluid to drain from his brain properly.
We are cautiously excited that this will all work out and we'll get to be with him soon; but we know that God has a wonderful plan, so no matter what happens, it will be for the best.

I can't wait to hold Leia's Big cousin that is keeping her company and watching over her while I can't.
I am sitting here with tears in my eyes; I'm so excited for y'all! I'm praying that he'll be home with you soon! Congratulations.
Karim just saw the pictures again while we were reading this and said, oh, it's Buttons! I like him, I want to hug buttons :)
April showed me your news this morning while I was at her house! I came to look and shouted, "They're getting BUTTONS!!!!!???????!!!!!!!"
I was SO excited. I, too, have fallen for this little guy and the thought that I might actually one day MEET him and hold him in my arms and watch him grow up is wonderful!
Congrats and I will keep you all in my prayers for a swift process and a happy, healthy baby.
What will you call him? Do you have a name picked out?
I am so very happy for you. I fell in love with Buttons, too. He is so darling. What a fighter! There is something about a baby that entered this world under difficult circumstances that makes them just a little more special. Well, maybe I'm prejudice, since Jake was a low-birth-weight preemie, but they just suck you in with their gentle smile. I can't wait for you to be holding your son in your arms. Congratulations!!!!!
Congratulations! Buttons is beautiful!
If you'd like to connect with other parents of preemies, you might want to visit the March of Dimes community called Share Your Story: http://www.shareyourstory.org/ It's tremendously supportive.

By the way, his smile melts my heart and these pictures made me cry...he's beautiful! :)
